Life
Changes From:
Donald Wilson-Mississippi Foosball Promoter
Hello
Foosers,
After completing the History of Foosball article, which will be in
the next newsletter and will be on the web site, it made me look at where we
were, where we are, where we are going. Personally when I got out of foosball I
focused on my family. We made some life changes. We got involved in church and
cleaned up our lives. In 2003 Mike Flynn called me and asked me to play in a
tournament in Mike
and I saw this as an opportunity to show other Foosers
that you could live a Christian life and play foosball. After Mike and I won
Semi-Pro Doubles we prayed right in the middle of Shooters giving thanks to God
for giving us the opportunity to witness to others and for us playing good and
wining. Right then we knew this could be a good ministry by helping others
by witnessing and by helping the image of Foosball. We also welcomed in another
couple of Christian Fooser’s Billy Barnes and Joe
Lacey. I even told Tony Pope as long as Foosball is fun I will stay in it, but
when it becomes a hassle or has to much controversy I was going to get out. With
Foosball being very competitive it would be tough. Mike Flynn had some struggles
with his temper so he quit. With God’s help he overcame his struggles and is
now back playing. Billy saw that foosball was starting to become more important
than his ministry and family, basically more than what he wanted it to be so he
made the decision to retired. For me I could see things slipping but I thought I could handle it. That was my first mistake by thinking that I could handle it by myself. With more players coming in to play and the level of play being very competitive I lost sight of what I was doing. My language was starting to get out of control. I was and am on a downward spiral. I’m suppose to be an example to my family, friends, and community. It has even got to a point instead of gong to church every weekend it was now, every now and then. This is not the person I want to be! I know going to church every weekend will not get you into heaven but it does feed you enough to face the Worldly desires day to day. With that said, I would like to publicly apologize to God for losing sight of what I was doing and ask for forgiveness. Next I would like to apologize to my family and everyone else for the bad example I was setting forth. If I have offended or crossed anyone I apologize. From this day forward I will try to live the way God wants us to live, a sin free life and to tell others about him. One other thing, “Christians are not perfect, just forgiven”. We all have struggles and will fall short of the glory of God, but we ask forgiveness through Jesus Christ our Lord, we are forgiven. I know I will have struggles ahead but I’m going to, with God’s help do my best to be the example I should be.
