Chapter Five Beginner Goalie Push Shot Series

" Beginner Goalie Push Shot Series"

…A.1. Set the ball up 1/2 way between the near wall and the first stripe.

…A.2. Use your shooting man to bounce the ball off the near wall, back wall, and back rod's man, in order to set your shot up. Set the ball directly between the near wall and the Goal's first white line. Then position the ball directly underneath the bar, then tilt the man back a little position the ball back as well, placing the ball snug up against your shooting man. Do not leave a space between the ball and the side of your man's foot. If you do this will increase your odds in mis-executing the shot as it increases the risk in slipping out of place off your man's foot when you start the lateral pushing motion...Do not get impatient learning to set the ball up. Take your time it will get easier and soon you will start getting it set up quickly.

…A.3. Start your shot from this same position every single time during first year..

…A.4. Primary Job responsibility... Is to never ever turn over (fumble the ball) the ball to the opponent's forward, while in your position.

…A.5. Second priority Job responsibility: is to clear the ball past the Opponent's Three Bar.

…A.6. Third priority job responsibility: is to clear the ball past the Opponent's 5 Bar.

…A.7. It is not your responsibility to be a hero or impress your forward by Scoring or showing fancy footwork. In fact it is not even necessary to score in order to do your job. Never ever get upset if you never score. Never ever self destruct which causes your muscles to tense up and causes you to looses smoothness and effectiveness.

…B.1. Defensive Priority Responsibility is to execute a moving defense , utililizing different patterns, dot blocking 2 of the three main holes at all times. Three holes are 1.5 dot, Middle Dot, and 6.5 Dot. Do not stack your defensive men as it restricts your ability to cover a larger percentage of the hole. Also leave a ball or so distance between your defending men, occasionally opening and shutting that hole as well or making it look as if that hole is shut when it's actually open , or open when it's actually shut.

…B.2. Do not overreact and bail your men out when banks and mis-executed shots come wildly at you, stay calm and cool smoothly moving the required men in a "tight two man defensive crap saving zone" or a single man to get a piece of the mis-executed shot in order

…C.1. Never ever get upset when someone scores on you.. remember they have the ball and the advantage in knowing when they will start the shot and where they will shoot it. Just do your best to reduce the number of shooting holes and to not leave any holes open too long. Never ever get upset if you never score. Never ever self destruct which causes your muscles to tense up and causes you to looses smoothness and effectiveness, which later causes move fumbles and shot mis-executions.

"""""""All the following are Closed Hand Shot Examples:
...1.
"Set-Push Brush Lane Pass or Shot"...From Same set position, pull the three rod all the way against the near wall and turn the man down. Practice brushing the ball directly to hit this man on the three bar. Do this without moving the ball laterally at all. Simple start your back stroke, slide the man over laterally and brush down on the ball sending it to the second man on the middle 3-bar man. """"Occasionally your forward will raise his man and the ball goes straight in the hole for a shot!!!

...2. "Set-Push Lane Dead Pass". Now from the same set position without moving the ball laterally , start your back swing slide the man over and strike the ball directly dead even down the lane to execute a lane pass.. The forward will come out and catch the ball with their 1st man on the 3-Bar.

...3. "Set-Push Brush Wall Pass". Now from the same set position, start the back stroke, then slide the man over the ball and brush the ball back down the wall so it hits the 1st man on your forward's 3-Bar which is positioned down up against the near wall.

...4. "Moving-Push Brush Shot". From same set position, push the ball laterally from 1/32-3 ball lengths, then start your back swing, slide the man over the ball and then brush the ball towards the first hole on the goal executing a Push Brush shot....

After striking the ball, follow through by Brush Pulling the rod towards the near wall in an attempt to square the shot off. (This is a hard shot to master and most people give up, adjust to about the 3 Dot as a long close hand Dead shot, or resort to shooting this long Push using an open hand strike).

...10. "Moving 2 Dot Push Brush Back Kick". From same set position push the ball laterally away from you to about the Middle Dot on your defending Goal, start your back swing, slide the other man over and then Brush strike the ball towards the goal's 2nd Dot on the near side. From same set position push the ball laterally away from you to about the last dot of your Defending Goal, start your back swing, slide the next man over and then Brush Strike the ball towards the goal's Big Dot . After striking the ball, follow through by pulling the rod a little towards the near wall and the ball will angle back shooting towards the Big Dot.
