Beginner
Near Wall Brush Passing Series"
...A.
Serve , pin, and start very slow motion rolling set. Maneuver and
push, slice, and chip the ball back with the first man to start getting
it into the back pinned position of the second man. Now back Pin the
ball underneath the the second man on the 5 Bar... Back Pin the ball a
about 1.5-2 ball lengths behind the rod. At this set position the 5 bar
will be pushed almost all the way against the far wall. Pin toss the
ball to set the ball in motion and Roll the ball laterally from the back
Pinned position very slowly towards you, Keep the ball moving laterally
at the same pinned table line, slide the first man on the 5-Bar with
just enough reverse motorcycle back swing to get over the ball, now
Hover this 1st man back and forth, over the ball as the ball moves very
very slowly towards the near wall in the "rolling set
position". Try hovering the first man over the ball covering both
sides of the ball evenly, as to disguise the brush strike position and
where the ball is being passed to. The Brush Strike Range is between the
lane and the wall (about 1-2 balls from the wall) For the first year
always pin the ball at this position and start your passing series from
this rolling set position.
...B. The Three Bar Position: Set the three bar in the
Catch Position. You do this by pulling the three rod towards you, all
the way up against the near wall, and then tilt the man's foot forward
at about a 45 degree angle out toward your opponent's goal. Leave your
three man set in this catch position at all times, until you strike the
ball passing on any type of hole other than the wall, then just when you
strike the ball in completing the execution of the pass, move the three
man rod out to catch or control the pass.
...C. Catch or control the pass. When you pass to the
wall, you will Brush strike the ball into the man sitting on the wall
and the ball will be caught by this first man if tilted correctly pinned
up against the wall. You really don't have to do much other than make
sure you have it tilted forward at the right angle degree and it will
stick in between the man and the wall after you hit the the ball into
this area. Now if you pass down the lane, Immediately when you Brush
strike the ball to pass the lane , you then push the three rod over
about 2 inches leaving the man remaining in the tilted down position.
Depending on the rough texture quality of the ball you are using, the
firmness of your grip on the three rod (don't grip it too tight as it
needs a little room to give when the ball strikes into it as the ball
can then be slid underneath the man pinned at a catch position), and the
exact tilted position of your man, the ball may stick and be caught as
the catching man and the playing surface acts as the two sides of a
baseball glove closing, griping and pinning the man between the man's
heal and the playing table surface.
…However it is not necessary to catch passes. All you really need to
do is just control the passes on your 5 bar. Adjust your level of
firmness and flexibility on the three rod so that after the ball is
passed into and hits the three rod man the ball bounces into and back a
little and you then nick the ball a little or quickly slide your three
man around the back of the ball to control it.

...1. Rolling Set Wall Brush Pass... From the
"rolling set position" hovering tightly over the very slow
rolling ball, After the ball gets into the strike range and you read
that the defense is not covering the wall, Immediately and quickly Brush
Strike the ball towards the first man on the three rod, sitting up
against the wall. Remember to follow through by pulling the 5 bar rod
towards you brushing the "grooves on the man's foot across the ball
forcing spinning english on the ball sending it down the wall. I would
say the brush is comprised of about 25% of the rod moving directly
towards your opponent's goal and about 75% of the rod being quickly
pulled towards the near wall following through very heavily after
brushing the grooves on the man's foot across the ball. Use a loose close
hand grip to execute this pass. When executed properly the ball will
finish up pinned in between the 1st man's foot on the three bar and the
wall. Use the closed hand grip when executing this pass
..2.
Rolling Set Lane Brush Pass... From the "rolling set
position" hovering tightly over the very slow rolling ball, After
the ball gets into the strike range and you read that the defense is not
covering the 1st Lane, Immediately and quickly Brush Strike the ball up
the open lane at the spot where you will at the same time move the 1st
man on your 3 man off the wall over to catch or control the passed ball.
Remember to follow through by pushing the 5 bar rod towards the far wall
away from you brushing the "grooves on the man's foot across the
ball forcing spinning english on the ball sending it up the lane. I
would say the brush is comprised of about 25% of the rod moving directly
towards your opponent's goal and about 75% of the rod being quickly
pushed away from you towards the far wall, following through very
heavily after brushing the grooves on the man's foot across the ball.
Use a loose close hand grip when executing this pass. When executed
properly the ball will finish up controlled or pinned in between the 1st
man's foot on the three bar and the playing surface. Use the closed hand
grip to execute this pass.
...3. Rolling
Set-kick back,2nd man brush down 1st lane Pass... From the
"rolling set position" hovering tightly over the very slow
rolling ball, After the ball gets into the strike range and you read
that the defense is not covering the down lane angle, using the 1st man
on the five bar, kick the ball back to the second man and then
Immediately Brush Strike the ball (using the second man on the five bar)
down the open lane to the spot, where you will at the same time move the
1st man on your 3 man off the wall over to catch or control the passed
ball. Remember to follow through by heavily pulling the 5 bar rod
towards the near wall away towards you brushing the "grooves on the
man's foot across the ball forcing spinning english on the ball sending
it down the lane from a different brushing angle. I would say the brush
is comprised of about 25% of the rod moving directly towards your
opponent's goal and about 75% of the rod being quickly being pulled
towards you towards the far wall, following through very heavily after
brushing the grooves on the man's foot across the ball. Use a loose
close hand grip when executing this pass. When executed properly the
ball will finish up controlled or pinned in between the 1st man's foot
on the three bar and the playing surface. Use the closed hand grip to
execute this pass.
...4. Rolling Set-Double kick back, Wall bounce Brush lane
Pass... .From the "rolling set position" hovering tightly
over the very slow rolling ball, After the ball gets into the strike
range and you read that the defense is not covering the wall bounce
brush lane , using the 1st man on the five bar, kick the ball back to
the second, then pull or kick the ball back to the wall, let the ball
bounce off the wall back to the strike range, quickly Brush Strike the
ball up the open lane at the spot where the catching man will be, at the
same time move the 1st man on your 3 man off the wall over to catch or
control the passed ball. Remember to follow through by pushing the 5 bar
rod towards the far wall away from you brushing the "grooves on the
man's foot across the ball forcing spinning english on the ball sending
it up the lane. I would say this brush is comprised of about 60% of the
rod moving directly towards your opponent's goal and about 40% of the
rod being quickly pushed away from you towards the far wall, following
through very heavily after brushing the grooves on the man's foot across
the ball. Use a loose close hand grip when executing this pass. When
executed properly the ball will finish up controlled or pinned in
between the 1st man's foot on the three bar and the playing surface. Use
the closed hand grip to execute this pass.
...5. Rolling Set-Double kick back, Wall bounce Brush Wall
Pass... From the "rolling set position" hovering tightly
over the very slow rolling ball, After the ball gets into the strike
range and you read that the defense is not covering the wall bounce
brush wall , using the 1st man on the five bar, kick the ball back to
the second, then pull or kick the ball back to the wall, let the ball
bounce off the wall back to the strike range, quickly Brush Strike the
ball towards the first man on the three rod, sitting up against the
wall. Remember to follow through by pulling the 5 bar rod towards you
brushing the "grooves on the man's foot across the ball forcing
spinning english on the ball sending it down the wall. I would say the
brush is comprised of about 25% of the rod moving directly towards your
opponent's goal and about 75% of the rod being quickly pulled towards
the near wall following through very very heavily after brushing the
grooves on the man's foot across the ball. Use a loose close hand grip
when executing this pass. When executed properly the ball will finish up
pinned in between the 1st man's foot on the three bar and the wall. Use
the closed hand grip to execute this pass
A good exercise to help you learn how to execute the
rolling set position:
Back Pin the ball behind the bar on your 5 bar. Practice
tossing the ball from man to man maneuvering all the way across the
table back and forth all the way between all men between the far wall
and the near wall. This will help you to learn how to pin toss the ball
to set the ball in motion at the rolling set position.
